Reconnecting With Former Classmates If a School Reunion Comes Up
Over the past few years, tons of us have lost contact with our old friends from elementary and high school. The problem seems to arise when a school reunion comes up. Even if you have a tiny amount of information, is it ever really possible to get in contact with old friends again without going to the crazy extremes of hiring someone like a private investigator? The answers today seem to point to "Yes." Within this great age of the internet, here are some ways that you can go about reconnecting with old friends.
People Searches – Does it Work or Is It a Scam?
There are many websites that claim to have the information on anyone you are looking for as we have all seen mentioned on TV and advertised all over the internet. Sounds a little scary, right? If these claims are true, imagine what type of information they have on you!
The only major problem it seems is directly related to many of these websites is the fact that hardly any of them actually work! Similarly, the process is usually the same with each website. You first enter in your person's name, it shows that a match has been found, and then they ask you to enroll in a membership in order to see any of the information. The problem is that even if these websites do give you information, most of the time it is incorrect. These websites work by analyzing public records and phone books and storing all of that information. Because of this, changes are the information that you receive is old, outdated, and just plain wrong!
The Dominant Power of Facebook
One of the best methods to go about tracking down former classmates is by using Facebook. Yes, that Facebook. The same website that now has over 900 million active monthly users. Chances are that all of those friends that you are looking for are on Facebook. Even if they aren't, there are other possibilities of their family and friends being on there. In order to track these people down, the first step you need to actually take is to have a Facebook account. Unfortunately, Facebook doesn't allow anyone to search through their database of profiles unless you have a profile of your own. After signing up, you should add a picture and a little bit about yourself. This way, when you contact your old friends, they will know exactly who you are and won't feel like they're talking to a spammer with a fake profile. To begin, simply type in the person's name at the top of the page. You can then alter various options like their location as well as the school that they graduated from. If they are found, you should definitely send them a message and see about meeting up again!
Which is the Better To Use?
It seems the best way to reunite with your old friends before a school reunion is through Facebook. Since there are over 900 million active users each month on the site, chances are you will easily be able to find your friends or even their family members with a simple search. As warned above, stay far away from the sites that allow you to people search. Most of these sites will give you wrong information and simply just want your money. What are you waiting for? It's time to get searching and reunite with those old friends!
